FTP, which is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol, represents the most popular method for transferring website content to a web hosting account. Using an FTP app that is installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can make a connection to your website hosting server and copy all of the web files that you need with a couple of clicks of the mouse. This is done via an intuitive graphical interface and it is as simple as dragging & dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you are able to set up separate accounts, each one with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you have to provide somebody with access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to access only a specific folder and won’t be able to view the remaining web content or any other information, including personal details. Three prerequisites are compulsory in order to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is usually an IP or a domain, a user name and a password.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Using our in-house developed Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, you’ll be able to create as many FTP accounts as you would like, even separate accounts with access to one and the same folder – in case you would like several users to be able to connect to the exact same web content with different login credentials. Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting don’t involve any limitation on the maximum number of the FTP accounts that you can have at the same time, so you’ll be able to administer your website files and to update your sites without any effort. If you wish to limit the access to your content, you can alter the directory that an account can access or you can delete the account with no more than a couple of clicks from the Control Panel. You will be able to see all the accounts and to edit any of them, if needed. For convenience’s sake, you can also download an auto-config file for different FTP client apps. Furthermore, we have in-depth help articles and video tutorials, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without hassle.
